In this study, we demonstrate ultrafast single-photon emission from silicon vacancy centers in a diamond membrane—achieving picosecond lifetimes at room temperature using plasmonic nanogap cavities.

Highlights include:

5.5 ps ultrafast lifetime
Purcell enhancement >700×
361 Mcps single-photon generation rate
4800× brightness increase

This breakthrough in nanocavity engineering could accelerate the development of scalable quantum photonic technologies such as quantum communication, quantum key distribution, and all-photonic computing.
